PRESS RELEASE
THE PIONEERS OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC ADD AN UNMISSABLE ITALIAN DATE IN A UNIQUE LOCATION
The Teatro del Silenzio, inaugurated at the initiative of Andrea Bocelli, is nestled among the hills of Lajatico, the birthplace of the renowned singer. Originally designed to host a single performance each year, the structure is a circular stage that showcases a unique scenography every year. During inactive periods, the stage transforms into an artificial lake, making this site a true "natural theater," immersed in the silence of Tuscany.
Ralf Hütter and his group will bring to Italy the classics of Kraftwerk's discography, from “Autobahn” to “Tour de France Soundtracks,” for a unique show that blends music and performance art. The legendary band from Düsseldorf, one of the most influential and visionary in the music scene, is truly a "Gesamtkunstwerk" – a total work of art.
The multimedia project Kraftwerk was born in 1970, created by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. The duo founded their electronic studio, Kling Klang Studio, in Düsseldorf, Germany, where they conceived and produced all Kraftwerk albums. By the mid-1970s, Kraftwerk achieved international recognition for their revolutionary "soundscapes" and their musical experimentation through robotics and other technical innovations. With their futuristic visions, Kraftwerk created the soundtrack of the digital age of the 21st century. Their compositions, utilizing innovative techniques, synthetic voices, and computerized rhythms, have influenced countless music genres, including electronic, hip-hop, techno, and synth-pop.
In their live performances, the German band, composed of Ralf Hütter, Henning Schmitz, Georg Bongartz, and Falk Grieffenhagen, demonstrates their belief in the interplay between man and machine. In recent years, Kraftwerk has come full circle, returning to their roots within Düsseldorf's art scene. The 3-D concert series at MoMA was followed by additional presentations at the Tate Modern Turbine Hall (London), Akasaka Blitz (Tokyo), Sydney Opera House, Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Neue National Galerie (Berlin), and Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao).
In 2014, the electro pioneer Ralf Hütter and his former partner were honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In October 2021, Kraftwerk was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
