MARQ Museo Arqueológico Provincial de Alicante - Alicante/Alacant (Alicante/Alacant)
No changes will be made, and refunds will only be available for a minimum purchase of €16 in a single transaction, requested at least 24 hours before the event.
This exhibition is promoted by the Alicante Provincial Council through the MARQ Archaeological Museum of Alicante and the C.V. MARQ Foundation, in collaboration with 30 Spanish cultural institutions, including museums, archives, and foundations, which have loaned materials to facilitate the contextualization and understanding of the exhibition’s theme.
The exhibition’s central focus is the Tossal de Manises archaeological site, owned by the Alicante Provincial Council. Its research, restoration, enhancement, protection, and dissemination have transformed the site into a socialized space open to the public.
Subject to an in-depth scientific review, new interpretations—combined with those of its immediate surroundings—have reshaped the understanding of both the site and the Southeast of the Iberian Peninsula between 500 BC and 1000 AD. These reinterpretations are explored in the exhibition, which covers a larger surface area than any other temporary exhibition held at MARQ. It includes rooms named after three researchers deeply connected to the site: Enrique Llobregat, Francisco Figueras Pacheco, and the Count of Lumiares.
